TNR

Trap Neuter Return

TNR is a humane way to take outdoor, feral cats to the vet to be neutered, vaccinated and returned to their colony caretakers where they can be fed and monitored for any future health concerns.

Why?

Outdoor cats can have lots of potential problems and even more potential KITTENS. Cats can have four+ litters per year and can go into heat at 5 months old! Neutered male cats wander less (crossing streets can be dangerous) and will fight with other males less. A spayed female cat will have reduced risk of many health problems and will not have to put her body through the stress of constantly being pregnant, nursing and/or fighting off the males.

What if the cat is friendly?

If we find that a cat is friendly we will do everything possible to find it a good permanent home. You can help by volunteering to foster and see a cat through to its adoption. Even being a temporary foster is very helpful so long as you are up front and communicative about your time constraints.

How can I get involved?

You can take the TNR Course online and then reach out to a local rescue to offer to help. Every rescue and independent rescuer is always overwhelmed with cats and requests for help so always be patient and help where you can.
